About Traders Look
Traders Look is an educational site about how markets work and how a retail trader can study them without the usual hype.
The focus is practical: risk, process, charts, and the tools used to test an idea before size is added. There are no signal rooms, no “holy grail” indicators, and no promise that a reader will make money.
Who writes this site
My name is Mark Lewis. I write and maintain Traders Look.
I started looking at markets in 2018 with long-term investing, then spent more time on swing trading and crypto. Like most people who start this way, I wasted time on bots and “perfect” systems. The useful part of that period was learning that survival comes from position size, a written plan, and the ability to stop doing something that does not work.
What I trade and study now
I study my own errors first. The journal is not decoration. If a week goes wrong, I want the cause in a sentence that starts with “I,” not with “the market.”
The work itself is price action and probability. I care about structure, levels, and whether a trade still makes sense after a normal losing streak. I do not treat a single candle as proof.
I also watch the order book and tape when I need context — who is leaning on a level, whether a break has any size behind it. The book does not replace the map. It is a second opinion I can ignore if it disagrees with the higher-timeframe story.
How I work
Swing trading is the default. More time to think, cleaner invalidation, and risk I can size without rushing. Holds are measured in days to a couple of weeks, not in seconds.
Lately I have been exploring day trading and faster moves so I understand that tempo. It is a study, not a new identity. I do not let a 10-minute impulse rewrite a swing plan.
I do not add extra leverage. If a product is already geared, I size as if the account cannot borrow more. Small and still standing beats a large idea I cannot survive.
If a statement on this site is my opinion, it is labeled as such. If something was tested, I will say what was tested and what the test cannot prove.

What you will not find here
– Live trade alerts or “buy now” calls
– Guaranteed returns or income claims
– Copied broker promotions dressed up as research
– Tax, legal, or personalized financial advice
How the site is funded
Traders Look is free to read. It may be funded by:
– Display advertising, including Google AdSense when the site is accepted into that program
– Occasional affiliate links (including Amazon Associates). If you buy through a link, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you
Affiliate links do not change the risk language on a page. I will not recommend a tool only because it pays a commission.
Editorial standard
Articles are written to be used at a desk, not to rank a keyword and stop. Older posts will be updated when a method, tool, or example is out of date. Updates show on the page.
